Compared with the same month of the previous year, shipments decreased by 4.4 percent, -3.4 percent for EU countries and -5.4 percent for non EU countries, while inflows fell by 9.8 percent, -3.3 percent for EU and -15.5 percent for non EU countries. The trade balance for the period January to August amounted to €19.2 billion (€8.2 billion for EU and €11.0 billion for non EU countries).
In seasonally-adjusted data, compared to July 2013, sales rose 1.7 percent and purchases by 1.1 percent. Exports increased for both areas: +2.9 percent for EU countries and 0.2 percent for non EU countries. As regards imports, the growth was the synthesis of an increase for EU countries (+2.4 percent) and a decrease for non EU countries (-0.6 percent).
Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous three months, showed an increase of 0.7 percent for exports and of 1.3 percent for imports.
