Turkey Trade Deficit at 6-Month Low


The Turkish trade gap decreased 39.8 percent to USD 4.88 billion in August of 2015, compared to a USD 8.11 billion shortfall a year earlier and in line with market expectations.

Exports fell 2.8 percent year-on-year to USD 11.065 billion, with sales to the European Union decreasing 3.4 percent. Imports shrank 18.2 percent to USD 15.9 billion. 

In July, the country posted a slightly upwardly revised USD 7.06 billion trade deficit.
