Japan's Unemployment Rate Drops to 4.3% in August


Japan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent in August from 4.7 percent in July.

The number of employed persons in August 2011 was 59.67 million, a decrease of 290 thousand or 0.5% from the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons in August 2011 was 2.76 million, a decrease of 450 thousand or 14.0% from the previous year.

The jobs data excluded the three prefectures -- Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima -- that were hit hardest by the natural disaster in March.
