Mexico Unemployment Rate Edges Down to 5.18%


Mexican jobless rate decreased slightly to 5.18 percent in August of 2014 from 5.47 percent in July. Upon seasonal adjustment, the unemployment rate decreased to 4.87 percent.

In August, the labour force reached 58.19 percent. While 94.82 percent of economically active population was employed, but 7.6 percent were underemployed. 

Among regions, Federal District recorded the highest jobless rate (7.14 percent), followed by Nayarit (6.75 percent) and Estado de Mexico (6.42 percent), while Guerrero recorded the lowest one (2.02 percent).
