Japan's Unemployment Rate Rises to 4.7% in July


Japan's unemployment rate stood at a worse-than-expected 4.7 percent in July, up 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, excluding figures from the disaster-hit northeast of the country, the government reported on August 30.

The number of employed persons in July 2011 was 59.73 million, a decrease of 200 thousand or 0.3% from the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons in July 2011 was 2.92 million, a decrease of 230 thousand or 7.3% from the previous year.
