Japanese unemployment rate fells to 3.6% in July


The jobless rate fell to 3.6 percent in July, the lowest since February 1998, from 3.7 percent. A ratio that shows how many positions are on offer for each job seeker held at 1.07, near a 14-year low of 1.09.

The number of employed persons in July 2007 was 64.58 million, an increase of 370 thousand or 0.6% from the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons in July 2007 was 2.34 million, a decrease of 340 thousand or 12.7% from the previous year.
