Mexico Unemployment Rate Up to 6-Month High in July


In July of 2013, Mexican unemployment rate increased to 5.12 percent, from 4.99 percent in June, the highest jobless rate since the beginning of the year.

In July, the unemployment rate for men increased to 4.96 percent, from 4.92 percent reported in the same month a year ago. Jobless rate for women rose to 5.38 percent from 5.17 percent a year earlier.

The labor force participation rate at 60.01 percent, was 0.19 percentage point lower than in July of 2012.

Among employed people 41.6 percent were working in services, 20.1 percent in commerce, 15.5 percent in manufacturing, 14.3 percent in agriculture and 7.2 percent in construction.
