Russian Jobless Rate Down to 5.3% in July


Russian unemployment rate was recorded at 5.3 percent in July of 2016, compared to 5.4 percent in the previous month. The figure came below market expectations of 5.4 percent and was the lowest since September 2015.

The number of unemployed people decreased by 52 thousand to 4.125 million in July. A year earlier, the figure was 4.069 million. 

The number of economically active people increased by 0.4 million to 77.3 million (53 percent of population). Compared to July of 2015, the figure increased by 0.1 million. 

Nominal wages rose 7.8 percent year-on-year to an average RUB 36525 while real pay increased 0.6 percent. Real disposable income decreased 7.0 percent.
