Angolan Inflation Rate Decelerates to 9.04% in July


In July of 2013, Angola’s inflation rate eased for the third consecutive month to 9.04 percent, from 9.19 percent recorded in June and 10.02 percent a year earlier. Since November of 2010, the inflation rate has been on a downward trend, due to exchange rate stability and improvements in the monetary policy.

On a month-over-month basis, prices increased 0.52 percent in July, down from 0.63 percent recorded in June. Cost of housing equipment and routine maintenance of the house recorded the highest increase (0.85 percent), followed by prices of clothing and footwear (+ 0.73 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.64 percent). The index for miscellaneous goods and services grew 0.49 percent in July over the previous month and prices of transport increased 0.44 percent. Prices of Communications and Education remained unchanged again in July.
