US Consumer Sentiment Lowest in 8-Months


The University of Michigan’s preliminary index of sentiment decreased to 92.9 in August from 93.1 in July, the lowest level since November.

The barometer of current economic conditions decreased to 107.1 from a final of 107.2 in July.

The gauge of consumer expectations declined to 83.8 from a final of 84.1 in July.

Americans expect the inflation rate in the next year will rise to 2.8 percent. Over the next 5 to 10 years, they expect consumer prices to rise 2.7 percent.
