Dutch Trade Surplus Widens in June


Netherlands trade surplus increased to €4.8 billion in June of 2014 from €3.4 billion recorded in the same month of previous year as exports increased and imports declined.

In June of 2014, exports rose 2 percent year-on-year to €36.3 billion mostly due to higher sales of manufactured products, machinery and transport equipment. Shipments to non-EU countries grew rapidly, while it increased modestly to EU countries. Imports declined by 2.2 percent to €31.5 billion.

Import prices and export prices were down 0.7 and 0.8 percent respectively from June of 2013. As a result, terms of trade deteriorated.
