South Korean Unemployment Unchanged at 3.2% in July


In July, South Korea's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.2 percent. The number of unemployed persons increased by 33 thousand to 828 thousand people, or 4.1 percent, compared to July of 2012.

The number of employed persons amounted to 25,473 thousand persons in July, which went up 367 thousand persons or 1.5 percent year-on-year. The employment-population ratio was recorded at 60.4 percent, up 0.1 percent year-on-year.

The economically inactive population totaled 15,844 thousand people in July, increasing 116 thousand persons or 0.7 percent year-on-year. The non-adjusted unemployment rate was registered at 3.1 percent, remaining the same year-on-year.
