Japan Unemployment Rate Rises to 4.6% in June


Japan's unemployment rate rose to a seasonally adjusted 4.6% in June, following the negative impact of the March 11 disasters on the nation's labor market.

The number of employed persons in June 2011 was 60.02 million, an increase of 30 thousand or 0.1% from the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons in June 2011 was 2.93 million, a decrease of 360 thousand or 10.9% from the previous year.

The results for whole Japan excludes three prefectures (Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima) struck by the Great East Japan Earthquake, where the survey operation is suspended since March 2011.
