Among men, the unemployment rate decreased to 4.04 percent in June from 4.3 percent in May while female jobless rate rose to a nine-month high of 4.99 percent (4.68 percent in May).
The labour force participation rate increased to 60.1 percent from 59.8 percent in the previous month. 95.6 percent were working (the same as in May) while more people said could work more hours (8.4 percent from 7.6 percent in May).
A year earlier, unemployment reached 4.8 percent and the participation rate was lower at 59.8 percent.
Upon seasonal adjustment, the unemployment rate was 4.39 percent, roughly unchanged from 4.37 percent in the previous month.
