Russian Jobless Rate Falls to 5.4% in June


Russian unemployment rate was recorded at 5.4 percent in June of 2016, down from 5.6 percent in the previous month. The figure came well below market expectations of 5.6 percent and was the lowest since September 2015. The number of unemployed people decreased by 126 thousand to 4.17 million while economically active increased by 0.4 million to 76.9 million (52 percent of population).

The number of unemployed people decreased by 126 thousand to 4177 thousand in June. A year earlier, the figure was 4091 thousand. 

The number of economically active people increased by 0.4 million to 76.9 million (52 percent of population). Compared to June of 2015, the figure increased by 0.4 million. 

Nominal wages rose 9.0 percent year-on-year to an average RUB 38590 while real pay increased 1.4 percent. Real disposable income decreased 4.8 percent.
