South Korea Jobless Rate Rises To 3.8% In June


South Korea’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 3.8 percent in June of 2017 from a fourth month low of 3.6 percent in May.

Compared to the prior month, the number of unemployed persons went up by 55 thousand to 1.05 million and employment increased by 14 thousand to 26.48 million people.

The participation rate edged up to 62.9 from 62.8 in May.

A year ago, the jobless rate was 3.6 percent.

On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate also increased to 3.8 percent from 3.6 percent in a month earlier.
