Switzerland Unemployment Rate Falls Further in June


Swiss unadjusted jobless rate declined for the fourth straight month to 2.9 percent in June of 2014 from 3.0 percent in the previous month, reaching the lowest rate in a year.

The number of unemployed persons amounted to 126 632 persons in June, 3 678 less than in the previous month.

The number of registered jobseekers decreased to 180 689 persons, 3 747 less than in the previous month, but 883 more than in the same month of the previous year.

Unemployment among young people (15-24 years) decreased 2.9 percent in June from May, reaching 14 952 persons. Compared to the same month of the previous year, it decreased by 614 persons (-3.9 percent).

According to provisional data provided by the unemployment funds, 3 257 people have exhausted their entitlements to unemployment insurance in the month of April of 2014.
