On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease of 4,400 in June of 2014, reducing the seasonally adjusted total to 386,200. In unadjusted terms there were 398,813 people signing on the Live Register in June of 2014. This represents an annual decrease of 36,544 (-8.4 percent).
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register showed a monthly decrease of 3,100 males in June of 2014, while females decreased by 1,300 over the same period.
The number of male claimants decreased by 28,240 (-10.4 percent) to 242,697 in the year to June of 2014, while female claimants decreased by 8,304 (-5.1 percent) to 156,116. This compares with a decrease of 15,774 (-5.5 percent) to 270,937 for males, while female claimants showed a decrease of 843 (-0.5 percent) to 164,420 in the year to June of 2013. The number of long term claimants on the Live Register in June of 2014 was 188,858. In June 2014, 52.6 percent (209,955) of all claimants on the Live Register were short term claimants.
There were 76,561 casual and part-time workers on the Live Register in June of 2014, which represents 19.2 percent of the total Live Register. This compares with 20.3 percent one year earlier when there were 88,322 casual and part-time workers on the Live Register.
Youth unemployment rate decreased in a yearly basis by 9,861 (-13.8 percent) in June of 2014.
