Italy Inflation Rate Stable at 0.1%


Consumer prices in Italy are expected to rise 0.1 percent year-on-year in June of 2015, the same rate as in May, in line with market expectations.

Main upward pressure came from prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (up 1 percent, the same as in May), restaurants and hotels (up 1.6 percent following a 1.1 percent rise in May), miscellaneous goods and services (up 0.2 percent, the same as in May), health (up 0.5 percent following a 0.3 percent rise in May) and recreation and culture (up 0.4 percent following a 0.3 percent rise in May).

In contrast, downward pressure came from transport cost (down 1.6 percent, following a 1.2 percent fall in May) and housing and utilities (down 1.3 percent, following a 1.4 percent fall in May).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are expected to rise 0.1 percent, the same as in May.

The harmonized index rose by 0.2 percent compared to the previous year and 0.1 percent over the previous month (from 0.2 percent each in April).
