Spain Deflation Slows in June


Consumer prices in Spain are expected to fall 0.8 percent year-on-year in June of 2016, following a 1 percent decline in May, preliminary estimates showed. It is the eleventh straight month of no growth in consumer prices although June's decrease was the lowest in three months.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.5 percent, the same as in May, rising for the fourth straight month.

The harmonized index fell 0.9 percent year-on-year, compared to a 1.1 percent fall in May and market expectations of a 1 percent decline. The monthly index rose at a slower 0.4 percent (0.5 percent in May).
