German Inflation Rate Accelerates Slightly


Consumer prices in Germany are expected to rise 1.0 percent year-on-year in June of 2014, following a 0.9 percent increase in the previous month. While food prices slowed, service cost accelerated in June.

Preliminary estimates showed prices of services are expected to increase 1.6 percent, accelerating from a 1.4 percent rise in May. Food cost is expected to remain flat after rising 0.5 percent in the previous month. Meanwhile, prices of energy are expected to fell at a slower 0.3 percent.

From May to June, provisional figures showed that consumer prices are expected to increase 0.3 percent, the first rise in three months. 

The harmonized consumer price index for Germany is expected to increase by 1.0 percent in June 2014 on June 2013. Compared with May 2014, it is anticipated at 0.4 percent.
