The labour force participation rate increased to 59.8 percent in May from 59.2 percent in April. 95.6 percent were working (95.7 percent in April) while less people said could work more hours (7.6 percent from 8.9 percent in April).
A year earlier, unemployment reached 4.92 percent. Yet, the participation rate was higher at 60.1 percent.
Upon seasonal adjustment, the unemployment rate was 4.37 percent, roughly unchanged from 4.3 percent in April.
