Swiss Jobless Rate at 7-Month Low


Swiss unadjusted jobless rate declined to 3.2 percent in May of 2015 from 3.3 percent in the previous month and matching market forecasts. It is the lowest figure since November 2014, as the number of jobseekers and unemployed went down.

In May, there were 136,349 unemployed persons enrolled at the regional employment centers, about 4,782 fewer than in the previous month. Compared to the same month a year earlier, unemployment increased by 6,039 persons (+4.6 percent). 

The number of jobseekers totalized 192,798 in May of 2015, recording 6,548 persons fewer than in the previous month and up 8,362  persons from a year earlier (+4.5 percent).

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years) decreased by 1,130 persons (-6.5 percent) to 16,352 persons, and rose  by 953 persons (+6.2 percent) from a year earlier.
