Spanish Inflation Rate Slows To 5-Month Low

Consumer prices in Spain are expected to increase by 1.9 percent year-on-year in May 2017, easing from a 2.6 percent gain in April and missing market expectations of 2.1 percent. It was the lowest inflation rate since December last year, as prices of fuel and tourist packages dropped.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are expected to fall 0.1 percent compared with an increase of 1 percent in April.

The EU-harmonised index is expected to rise by 2 percent year-on-year, but to decline by 0.1 percent from the previous month.
