Japan Unemployment Rate Unchanged in April


Japan's seasonally adjusted jobless rate held steady at 3.6 percent in April, unchanged from the previous two months.

The number of unemployed persons in April was 2.54 million, a decrease of 370 thousand or 12.7 percent from the previous year.

The labor force fell 0.2 percent year-on-year, while the number of people not in the labor force was unchanged. The number of employed persons was 63.38 million, an increase of 260 thousand or 0.4 percent from the previous year. 

The number of new job offers rose 3.7 percent in April from the previous month and was up 10.0 percent from a year ago.
