Russia Unemployment Falls to 5.3%



Russian jobless rate dropped for the second consecutive month to 5.3 percent in April of 2014 from 5.4 percent in March.

A year earlier, unemployment was recorded at 5.6 percent. 

From March to April 2014, the number of unemployed people decreased by 38 thousand to 3.9 million. There were less 195 thousand people unemployed in April of 2014 than in the same month of 2013. 

There were 993 thousand people officially registered as unemployed in April, 52 thousand more than in March, but 68 thousand less than a year earlier. 

Average wages increased 8.2 percent in nominal terms year-on-year in April to 31,115 roubles, while real wages rose at a slower 0.8 percent year-on-year.
