Turkey Unemployment Rate Rises in February


Turkish jobless rate increased for the fourth consecutive month to 10.2 percent in February of 2014, up from 10.1 percent recorded in the previous month. Since February of 2014, the Household Labour Force Survey methodologies have changed, to ensure its full compliance with the European Union standards.

The number of unemployed persons was 2.825 million in February of 2014. Non-agricultural unemployment rate was 12.1 percent, and youth unemployment rate registered 17 percent.

Employment reached 24.999 million persons. Out of total employed people, 20.2 percent worked in agriculture, 21.4 percent in industry, 7 percent in construction and 51.3 percent in services.
