Tanzania Inflation Rate Down to 9.4% in April


In April of 2013, the inflation rate eased to 9.4 percent, from 9.8 percent recorded in March.

The Annual Headline Inflation Rate for the month of April, 2013 has further decreased to 9.4% from 9.8% recorded in March, 2013.

The decrease of Annual Headline Inflation Rate for the month of April, 2013 explains that, the speed of price increase for commodities in April, 2013 has decreased compared to the speed recorded in March, 2013.

However, the overall index went up to 141.59 in April, 2013 from 129.45 recorded in April, 2012. Food and Non alcoholic beverages Inflation Rate has decreased to 10.2% in April 2013 from 11.1% recorded in March, 2013.

The Annual Inflation Rate which excludes food and energy for the month of April has increased to 6.5% from 5.9% recorded in March. The Annual Inflation Rate for Energy has decreased to 21.6% in April compared to 22.6% recorded in March.
