Lower petrol prices in particular had a downward effect on inflation. The average price of one litre of Euro95 was 1.74 euros in April, i.e. 3 cents cheaper than in March. In April 2012, the average price for consumers at the petrol station was 1.81 euros. Price developments in the food sector also had a downward effect on inflation. It is the lowest rate since September of 2012.
Dutch inflation calculated according to the European harmonised method dropped from 3.2 percent in March to 2.8 percent in April, but is still well above the eurozone inflation level which dropped 0.5 percentage points in April to 1.2 percent, the lowest level in the eurozone since February 2010.
