Russia Unemployment Drops in March


Russian jobless rate fell for the first time in four months to 5.4 percent, after remaining stable at 5.6 percent in the previous two months.

A year earlier, unemployment was recorded at 5.7 percent. 

From February to March 2014, the number of unemployed people decreased by 205 thousand to 4 million. Compared with a year earlier there were less 228 thousand people unemployed. 

There were 941 thousand people officially registered as unemployed, 12 thousand less than in February and 142 thousand less than a year earlier. 

Average wages rose 10.2 percent in nominal terms year-on-year in March to 31,300 roubles, while real wages rose at a slower 3.1 percent year-on-year.
