South Korea Unemployment Rate Down in March


In South Korea, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.2 percent in March of 2013, from 3.5 percent in the previous month, as several job seekers left the market for further education or stopped looking for work.

The economically active population marked 25,397 thousand in March, which grew 187 thousand persons or 0.7 percent year-on-year

The labor force participation rate stood at 60.5 percent in March, down 0.4%p year-on-year.
 
The number of employed persons totaled 24,514 thousand persons in March, which went up 249 thousand persons or 1.0 percent year-on-year.
 
The employment-population ratio recorded 58.4 percent in March, down 0.2%p year-on-year.
 
The number of unemployed persons totaled 883 thousand people in March, which decreased 62 thousand persons or 6.6 percent year-on-year.
 
The unemployment rate marked 3.5 percent in March, down 0.2%p year-on-year. Seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate decreased to 3.2 percent.
 
The economically inactive population totaled 16,564 thousand people in March, increasing 359 thousand persons or 2.2 percent year-on-year.
