Consumer prices in Switzerland fell 0.9 percent year-on-year in March of 2015, following a 0.8 percent drop in the previous month. It is the lowest rate since mid-2012.
Year-on-year, transport prices recorded the highest decrease (-3.7 percent), followed by household equipment (-1.8 percent) and recreation and culture (-1.8 percent), food and non alcoholic beverages (-1 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (-0.3 percent).
Upward pressures came from cost of restaurants and hotels (0.1 percent), clothing and footwear (0.4 percent), alcoholic drinks and tobacco (1.3 percent) and education (1.2 percent).
On a monthly basis, the price índex increased 0.3 percent, recovering from decreases in the previous three months and touching the highest rate since May of 2014. Only prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.3 percent) and communication (-0.1 percent) fell.
