Mexico Unemployment Rate Falls in February


Mexican jobless rate decreased to 4.65 percent in February of 2014 from 5.05 percent in January. A year ago, the unemployment rate was recorded at 4.85 percent.

95.35 percent of the economically active population was employed in February 2014, but underemployment decreased only marginally to 8.17 percent from 8.21 percent in the same month last year.

In February, 24.3 percent of total unemployed people had finished the high-school.

Among regions, Tabasco recorded the highest jobless rate (6.37 percent), followed by Aguascalientes (6.31 percent), while Guerrero recorded the lowest one (1.88 percent). In the Federal District, unemployment rate rose to 5.83 percent from 5.71 percent in January.
