Russia Unemployment Rate Steady at 5.8%


Russian jobless rate was recorded at 5.80 percent in February of 2016, unchanged from the previous two months and in line with market expectations. The number of unemployed people was steady at 4.4 million while economically active increased by 0.1 million to 75.9 million (52 percent of population).

The number of unemployed people came in at 4429 thousand from 4428 thousand in January. A year earlier, the figure was 4410 thousand. 

The number of economically active people increased by 0.1 million to 75.9 million (52 percent of population). Compared to February of 2015 the figure also increased by 0.1 million.

Nominal wages rose 5.3 percent year-on-year to an average RUB 32990 and real pay fell 2.6 percent. Real disposable income shrank 6.9 percent.
