Swiss Inflation Rate Down to 4-Month Low
In February of 2014, Swiss annual inflation rate fell 0.1 percent after growing 0.1 percent in each of previous three months. A year earlier, prices dropped 0.3 percent. Compared with the previous month, inflation rose to 0.1 percent.
Downward pressures came from prices for health services (-0.9 percent), transports (-2.0 percent), clothing and footwear (-3.9 percent). Contrarily, higher costs were recorded for housing and energy (+1.1 percent), food and non-alcoholic drinks (+1.1 percent), recreation and culture (+0.4 percent), restaurants and hotels (+1.0 percent).
On a monthly basis, prices of clothing and footwear recorded the highest increase (+1.6 percent). Additional upward pressures came from cost of housing and energy (+0.1 percent), package holidays and transport (+0.2 percent), while prices of hotels, oil and vegetables declined.
