Swiss Unemployment Rate Flat at 3.5%


Switzerland’s unadjusted jobless rate remained steady at 3.5 percent in February for the second straight month. A year earlier, the unemployment rate was recorded at 3.4 percent.

In January, there were less 4001 persons registered as unemployed at the regional employment centers. Compared to the same month last year unemployment increased by 3258 persons to 149259.

Youth unemployment (15 - to 24-year-old) decreased by 1114 persons (-5.4 percent) to 19419. Compared to the same month last year, this represents a decrease of 1106 persons (-5.4 percent).

A total of 205934 job seekers were registered, 2843 less than the previous month. Compared to the same period last year this figure rose 2.7 percent. The number of job vacancies increased by 1746 to 14042 places.
