Euro Area Inflation Rate Down to 1.8 Percent in February


Euro area annual inflation is expected to be 1.8 percent in February 2013, down from 2.0 percent in January, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, energy (4.0 percent compared with 3.9 percent in January) is expected to have the highest annual rate in February, followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (2.7 percent compared with 3.2 percent in January), services (1.6 percent, stable compared with January) and non-energy industrial goods (0.8 percent, stable compared with January).
