Spain Annual Inflation Rate Rises to 1.1% in February


The annual inflation rate in Spain rose to 1.1 percent in February 2019 from 1.0 percent in the previous month, in line with market expectations, a preliminary estimate showed. Prices should increase further mainly driven by cost of fuel.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are set to advance 0.2 percent, after dropping 1.3 percent in January.

The EU-harmonised index should rise 1.1 percent year-on-year in February, following a 1.0 percent gain in the prior month and slightly above market consensus of a 1.1 percent increase. Compared to the previous month, the index is expected to advance 0.2 percent, rebounding from a 1.7 percent decline in January.
