Japanese Unemployment Rate Unchanged at 3.7% in January

Japan's jobless rate held steady at the lowest level in six years in January and the number of employed persons increased 0.5% to 62.62 million.

The number of unemployed persons in January 2014 was 2.38 million, a decrease of 350 thousand or 12.8 % from the previous year.

The jobs-to-applicants ratio rose to 1.04 from December's 1.03, the highest since August 2007.

The number of new job offers rose 3.5 percent in January from the previous month and was up 12.9 percent from a year ago.
