Angola Inflation Rate Accelerates in January


In the first month of 2014, Angola’s annual inflation accelerated for the first time in eight months to 7.84 percent.

In December of 2013, the inflation was recorded at 7.69 percent.

On a monthly basis, prices edged up slightly in January to 0.76 percent, from 0.75 percent in the previous month. Cost of miscellaneous goods and services recorded the highest monthly increase (2.16 percent), followed by prices of hotels, cafes and restaurants (1.18 percent); housing equipment and routine maintenance of the house (1.04 percent) and clothing and footwear (1 percent).

Food prices increased 0.75 percent, up from 0.73 percent in December and communication cost was unchanged from previous month’s level.
