Thai GDP Grows 1.7% QoQ in Q4


The Thai economy advanced 1.7 percent on a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted basis in the last three months of 2014, faster than a revised 1.2 percent expansion in the previous quarter, but below market expectations.

Year-on-year, the GDP advanced 2.3 percent, accelerating from 0.6 percent expansion in the third quarter driven by a rebound in government spending and exports.

For full year of 2014, the economy grew 0.7 percent, slowing from a 2.3 percent expansion in 2013

Months of political turmoil has brought  Thailand's economy into a contraction during the first half of 2014 before it started to pick up in the following quarters.
