South Korea Unemployment Rate Increases in January


In South Korea, the unemployment rate increased to 3.2 percent (seasonally adjusted) in January of 2013, from 3 percent in the previous month.

The economically active population marked 24,901 thousand in January, which grew 317 thousand persons or 1.3 percent year-on-year.

The labor force participation rate stood at 59.5 percent in January, remaining the same year-on-year.
 
The number of employed persons totaled 24,054 thousand persons in January, which went up 322 thousand persons or 1.4 percent year-on-year.
The employment-population ratio recorded 57.4 percent in January, remaining the same year-on-year.
 
The number of unemployed persons totaled 847 thousand people in January, which decreased 6 thousand persons or 0.7 percent year-on-year.
The unemployment rate marked 3.2 percent (seasonally adjusted) in January.
 
The economically inactive population totaled 16,975 thousand people in January, increasing 239 thousand persons or 1.4 percent year-on-year.
