Italy Inflation Rate Steady in January


In January of 2014, Italian annual inflation rate remained steady at 0.7 percent for the third straight month, according to preliminary estimates. On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.2 percent, the same rate recorded in December.

Upward pressures came from transport prices while prices of fresh food slowed in January. 

Core inflation rate, which excludes prices of fresh food and energy accelerated to 1 percent in the first month of 2014 from 0.9 percent in December.
