Japan's Unemployment Rate Declines to 3.7% in December


Japan's jobless rate fell to a six-year low of 3.7 percent in December and the availability of jobs improved to a six-year high, data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications showed.

The number of unemployed persons in December 2013 was 2.25 million, a decrease of 340 thousand or 13.1 % from the previous year.

The number of employed persons in December 2013 was 63.19 million, an increase of 910 thousand or 1.5 % from the previous year.

The jobs-to-applicants ratio rose to 1.03 from 1.00 in November, the highest since September 2007, when the ratio also stood at 1.03.
