Mexico Unemployment Rate The Lowest in 6 Years


Mexican jobless rate declined to 3.76 percent in December of 2014 from 4.53 percent in the previous month. It is the fifth consecutive decrease and the lowest figure since May of 2008.

Upon seasonal adjustment, the unemployment rate fell to 4.25 percent.

Among regions, Tabasco recorded the highest jobless rate (6.47 percent), followed by Baja California Sur (6.29 percent) and Distrito Federal (5.93 percent), while Guerrero recorded the lowest one (2.24 percent).

In December of 2014, the labour force participation rate decreased to 59.86 percent from 61.08 percent in the same month of the previous year. 96.24 percent of the Mexican population were employed (67.4 percent as employees and 22.9 were self-employed)
