Italian Jobless Rate at Over 5-Year Low

Italy's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 11 percent in November 2017 from 11.1 percent in the previous month and in line with market expectations. The jobless rate reached its lowest level since September 2012.

The number of unemployed fell by 18 thousand from the previous month to 2.855 million in November. Meanwhile, employment rose by 65 thousand to 23.183 million and those detached from the labour force declined by 61 thousand to 13.260 million.

Youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 15 and 24 years old, dropped to 32.7 percent from 34 percent in October.

The country's overall employment rate, one of the lowest in the Euro Area, increased to 58.4 percent in November from 58.2 percent in the previous month.
