Swiss Unemployment Rate Highest Since March


Swiss unadjusted jobless rate increased to 3.4 percent in December of 2014 from 3.2 percent in the previous month as the number of jobseekers and unemployed went up.

In December, there were 147,369 unemployed persons enrolled at the regional employment centers, about 10,817 more than in the previous month. Compared to the same month a year earlier, unemployment fell by 2,068 persons (-1.4 percent).

The number of jobseekers amounted to 203,926 in December of 2014, recording 10.034 persons more than in November and less 1,876 persons from a year earlier (-0.9 percent).

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years) increased by 559 (+3.0 percent) to 19,161 persons and fell by 820 persons (-4.1 percent) from a year earlier.
