Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the consumer price index for Germany is expected to rise by 2.0% on an annual average in 2012 compared with 2011. Based on the results available so far, a month-on-month 0.9% rise in consumer prices is expected, which is mainly due to seasonal factors.
The harmonised consumer price index for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to be up 2.1% in 2012 compared with 2011. In December 2012, a year-on-year increase in the harmonised consumer price index of 2.1% is expected, while the rise on November is expected to be 1.0%.
