Exports from Armenia increased 38.7 percent year-on-year to USD 195.5 million in May 2017. Considering the first five months of the year, exports went up 20.9 percent to USD 803.9 million.

Armenia Balance of Trade at -206.10 USD Million


Armenian trade deficit widened to USD 206.1 million in May 2017 from USD 106.8 million in the same month a year earlier. Imports jumped 61.7 percent year-on-year to USD 401.6 million while exports grew at a slower 38.7 percent USD 195.5 million. Considering the first five months of the year, the trade deficit widened to USD 678.4 million from USD 537.9 million in the same period of 2016, as imports advanced 24.4 percent to USD 1,482.3 million and exports went up 20.9 percent to USD 803.9 million.

Armenia's economic activity grew 8.9 percent year-on-year in May 2017, following a 3.4 percent expansion in the previous month, as output rose at a faster pace for industry (20 percent from 4.3 percent in April), trade (15 percent from 14.2 percent) and services (14.3 percent from 10.4 percent). By contrast, output contracted for construction (-9.3 percent from -13 percent in April) and agriculture (-4.8 percent from -5 percent).
