UK Jobless Rate Holds Steady at 44-Year Low
The unemployment rate in the UK came in at 4% in Q4 2018, its lowest level since the 1970s and in line with market expectations. The number of unemployed fell by 14,000 on the quarter while employment increased by 167,000. Average weekly earnings rose 3.4% on the year, their biggest rise since the three months to July 2008.
